Brexit talks & EU citizens
28 September 2017
Commenting as the latest round of Brexit talks concluded, Acting Director of the Russell Group Dr Tim Bradshaw said:
“There are almost 25,000 members of staff from other EU member states working at Russell Group universities. Whether we are talking about academics, researchers or service staff, these women and men are fundamental to the success of the UK’s world-leading higher education sector. The progress which has been made on clarifying their rights after Brexit is positive but it is clear there are still substantial issues to be resolved. These need to be addressed urgently.
“This is not a game. Every round of talks that finishes without answers over citizens’ rights increases uncertainty. This is putting huge strain on families in the UK and across the EU.”
