British Council - modern languages
14 November 2017
Commenting on a new report from the British Council on modern languages, Russell Group head of policy Jessica Cole said:
“The British Council are right that languages will be vital to our future trading success after the UK leaves the EU.
“More than half of academics working in modern foreign languages at Russell Group universities are from outside the UK. This underlines the importance of a post-Brexit immigration regime that lets universities recruit high-quality staff who can help equip students with the language skills the UK needs. This starts with urgent clarity over the future rights of colleagues from other EU member states who are already working in universities.”
