Comment on Brexit Committee Report

04 April 2017

Commenting on the Exiting the European Union Committee report on The Government’s negotiating objectives: the White Paper, Russell Group Head of Policy Jessica Cole, said:

“EU and other international staff have helped make UK research a world leader. Ensuring that universities can continue to recruit top global talent, including early career researchers, will be fundamental to building a stronger economy after the UK leaves the European Union.

“Whether we are talking about research collaborations, Erasmus+ or recruiting the best international staff and students, pulling up the drawbridge after Brexit would take UK science and research backwards. The Committee’s recommendations need to be taken seriously in Whitehall.”
