Government introduces new grant standards

Director General of the Russell Group Dr Wendy Piatt said: 

"In introducing these new standards for grants the Government has acknowledged that the research carried out at our universities can often form an important and welcome part of the national conversation around policy.

"The research our universities conduct has an incredibly wide variety of impacts from public health and the environment to social affairs and the economy. It is therefore rewarding to see that the new standards protect the taxpayers' investment whilst recognising the importance of institutional autonomy."
