Horizon 2020 - latest statistics
31 March 2017
Commenting on the latest statistics on Horizon 2020 funding released by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Jessica Cole, Head of Policy at the Russell Group, said:
"These latest figures show once again the importance of EU funding to our world-leading universities. It’s really encouraging that the UK is still ranked number one for participation in Horizon 2020. Our universities are key to this success - 26 per cent of the funding allocated to universities across Europe goes to UK institutions.
"We are pleased the Government has committed to underwrite competitive bids for Horizon 2020 funding but ensuring this collaboration continues is vital if we want to remain at the cutting edge of science and research.
"As the Government enters into Brexit negotiations we urge them to prioritise research and innovation to ensure the UK’s participation in EU research for the full duration of Horizon 2020 and future programmes with a focus on excellence.”
