Industrial Strategy Commission report

Commenting on the publication of “Laying the Foundations”, the first report of the Industrial Strategy Commission, Russell Group head of policy Jessica Cole said:

“The Industrial Strategy Commission is right that proper investment in research and development is vital to keeping the UK economy growing. Russell Group universities have a proven record of delivering world-leading basic research and commercialising discoveries to support jobs across the country.

“Investment in new fields and basic research will help ensure that the economy can continue to grow as we leave the EU. Universities provide much of the intellectual infrastructure underpinning key sectors of the economy and higher education must be at the heart of the industrial strategy.”
