Commenting on claims that home applicants are losing out to international students at UK universities, a Russell Group spokesman said:

“There is no cap on overall student numbers and our members are absolutely committed to ensuring talented students from the UK, including those from under-represented groups, can access a high-quality higher education.

“Our universities are all international institutions and are proud of their record in attracting the most able students from across the globe. They bring a wide range of social, cultural and economic benefits to the UK, which advantages domestic students and enriches the research and learning environment.”
