International researcher mobility
04 May 2017
Commenting on a new survey from the Royal Society on international collaborations and freedom of movement for researchers, Russell Group Head of Policy Jessica Cole said:
“This survey confirms beyond any doubt that research is an international endeavor. UK researchers benefit from the opportunity to work abroad and international staff make an enormous contribution at our universities. Protecting the links that researchers and institutions across the UK have built with partners overseas must be a Brexit priority for the government and the EU.
“The EU’s Horizon 2020 scheme has helped Russell Group universities establish more than 9,300 collaborative links with partners across the UK, EU and beyond in the last three years alone. Any Brexit settlement which makes it more difficult for universities to work together across international borders would be harmful for all of us.”
