Commenting on the appointment of Nicola Dandridge as Chief Executive of the Office of Students, Dr Tim Bradshaw, Acting Director of the Russell Group, said:

“The creation of the OfS is a big moment for UK higher education. The new regulator will have a vital role to play in protecting and promoting students’ interests. In order to do this effectively, the OfS will need to maintain a high quality bar and recognise the diversity and breadth of provision across the sector which supports student choice.

"Sustaining and promoting the international competitiveness of UK higher education should be key to the regulator’s approach, recognising and valuing the broad role universities play in our economy, society and culture.

“This is a new regulatory system and the OfS will have significant powers to intervene in universities. Heading up this body is a heavy responsibility. Nicola brings a wealth of experience to this new role and is respected widely across the sector. This is a welcome appointment and I look forward to working closely with her.”
