Russell Group response to UK-India agreement to recognise qualifications

25 July 2022

In response to the agreement signed by the UK and India to officially recognise each other’s higher education qualifications (21 July 2022), Sarah Stevens, Director of Policy at the Russell Group, said:

"International students make a huge contribution to the UK, culturally, socially and economically, and this agreement will boost efforts to attract applicants from India, alongside the UK’s competitive post-study work offer.

"Our universities are working closely with government to maintain our standing as a globally attractive destination for students from a wide range of countries. Latest UCAS figures show a strong growth in applications to UK universities from India and other countries prioritised in the UK’s International Education Strategy, demonstrating these efforts are beginning to pay dividends."
