UCAS application figures
13 July 2017
Commenting on the release of new UCAS university application data, Sarah Stevens, Head of Policy at the Russell Group, said:
“Applications from EU students have fallen by 5%. We don’t yet know how these figures will translate into offers and acceptances. However, if students are being put off by the uncertainties of Brexit, this would be a concern.
“It’s positive that applications from overseas students outside the EU have risen slightly. International students bring social and cultural diversity to our campuses and this benefits all students, and they contribute £25.8 billion to the UK economy.
“There has been a record number of applications from young people in England, now at almost 38%. This demonstrates that more and more young people see the value of a university education.”
