Adonis Growth Review

Commenting on the final report of the Adonis Review, Dr Wendy Piatt, Director General of the Russell Group of Universities, said:

“We welcome Lord Adonis’ recommendation that budgets for science and research be prioritised and funded in the long-term after next year’s general election. Investment in research and development pays huge and sustained dividends not just for the economy but also for our culture, health and environment. We hope that the next Government, whatever its hue, will place this recommendation at the heart of its growth strategy.

“Our leading research-intensive universities are the engines of economic growth in cities across the UK. The 24 Russell Group universities support more than 300,000 jobs across the country and have a total economic output of over £32 billion every year.”
