Clinical placement funding for medical and dental students

In response to the letter sent by Minister of State for Universities Michelle Donelan MP to members of the Higher Education taskforce today (28 August), Dr. Tim Bradshaw, Chief Executive of the Russell Group, said:

“We are pleased to receive confirmation from the Government that DHSC will provide funding for clinical placements for additional medical and dental students who are admitted this year.

“We have been working closely with the Government through the Higher Education taskforce to ensure we can accommodate as many students as possible on their preferred courses this year. In addition, the Medical Schools Council is working closely with HEE and the GMC to secure all of the final approvals.

“This welcome additional investment will help members to secure placements for extra students this year, increasing their capacity to train more medical, dentistry and allied health professionals.”
