HEBCI statistics

Commenting on the release of the Higher Education Business Community Interaction statistics by HESA, Jessica Cole, Head of Policy at the Russell Group, said:

“Russell Group universities are active members of their local communities where they are anchors for economic growth and are often among the largest employers.

“Our universities don’t just work with industrial giants. The number of graduate start-ups tied to Russell Group universities who are still in business three years after opening their doors is up 30 per cent on last year’s figures. The number staff they employ increased by almost 20 per cent too. Tens of thousands of SMEs across the UK are working with our members.

“Collaboration is good for universities, good for businesses and good for the economy. The support that our members provide – from helping develop products, to providing incubator space and entrepreneurship training – is making a big difference. Helping universities develop the links they have with businesses will be important to the success of the industrial strategy.”
