Bristol’s expertise in high performance computing has also led to the development of Bristol Centre for Supercomputing, home to Isambard-AI an advanced AI research supercomputer supported by £225 million in UK government funding. Isambard-AI is set to accelerate critical research in AI safety, automated drug discovery, climate research and more when it launches in 2025.

As the first UK university to declare a climate emergency, Bristol addresses climate change through its research, teaching and operations. Ranked 12th globally for sustainability and positioned 2nd for improving global equity – Bristol’s Isambard-AI is currently the world’s second greenest supercomputer.
