Providing academic leadership for teaching and learning innovation
The Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning at the University of Warwick aims to support the university’s commitment to building and delivering innovative teaching programmes, which have a real impact on the student experience.
The Institute is a designated space where colleagues can develop their teaching practice, and be encouraged and supported as they explore and apply the innovative teaching practices, including Open-space Learning, that help shape teaching and learning across the university. Enthusiasm and new ideas are captured and shared with the wider academic community to help raise their profile and inspire others.
At the University of Bristol, the Cultivating Research and Teaching Excellence (CREATE) CPD scheme provides a whole range of courses for academic staff to improve their teaching practice. Participants learn how best to facilitate small group learning, provide feedback to students and use technology to enhance their teaching, and the scheme is accredited by the Higher Education Academy.
