Response to the OfS consultation on the integrity and stability of HE

Read our response to the OfS consultation on the integrity and stability of higher education. It asks about registration conditions and potential new rules to stabilise the HE sector in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Russell Group raised concerns about the potential retrospective nature of the condition, sought clarification on how it would be applied, and we emphasised the competitiveness of the international higher education market for postgraduate studies, which means universities need to be flexible and nimble in how they are able to attract talented students from all over the world.
The long term stability of the sector during the Covid-19 pandemic relies on home recruitment, international recruitment and research funding being supported, in order for the UK to maintain its position at the helm of teaching and research, and to facilitate a post-Covid-19 economic recovery.
