Located in the heart of London, Imperial is committed to developing the next generation of researchers, scientists and academics through collaboration across disciplines. Imperial’s campuses host almost 9,000 undergraduates and over 7,500 postgraduates, 48% of whom come from outside the UK.
The College focuses on the four main disciplines of science, engineering, medicine and business, and is renowned for its application of these skills to industry and enterprise. In the last 10 years, Imperial College London has produced more spin-out companies than any other UK university. It achieved one of the best results in the most recent assessment of research quality in UK universities: 46% of its research was rated world-leading, with a further 44% rated internationally excellent.
The College attracts the world’s very best scientists, engineers and medics. More than half of the college’s faculty are from overseas and many are award-winning: in 2014, Fields medallist Professor Sir Simon Donaldson won one of the inaugural Breakthrough Prizes in mathematics and Professor Sir John Pendry won the Kavli Prize in Nanoscience in recognition of his contributions to the fields of nano-optics and metamaterials.
