Russell Group hails new AI Deal
26 April 2018
Responding to today’s AI Sector Deal, Russell Group Chief Executive, Dr Tim Bradshaw, said:
“Russell Group universities share the Government’s ambition to put the UK at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and we very much welcome today’s investment package with its strong focus on innovation.
“Pioneering research in AI at our universities has the potential to transform society and help tackle a range of global challenges from diseases like malaria to the risk of flooding. Our universities also play a pivotal part in delivering the cutting-edge skills and expertise in AI-related disciplines which the country will need to be a global leader in this technology.
"Today’s deal will enable universities to develop new programmes to train more postgraduate students in the high-level skills needed to harness the huge potential of AI.”
