Call for new graduate work visa

04 September 2018

Responding to UUK’s call for a new graduate visa to allow international students to work in the UK for up to two years after completing their studies, Russell Group Chief Executive Dr Tim Bradshaw said:

“As the UK considers the kind of nation we hope to be after Brexit, Universities UK’s decision to highlight the contribution of international students is timely and welcome.

“Almost a third of students at Russell Group universities come from overseas. They make a huge contribution to our campuses and communities, while boosting the UK’s soft power and international reach. Our research shows that every seven non-UK undergraduates studying at Russell Group universities generate around £1 million for the UK economy.

“We support the call to give more international graduates the opportunity to work in the UK for a set period, once they finish their studies. This move would help preserve the UK’s status as a magnet for global talent.”
