Comment on Panorama: North Korea Undercover

Dr Wendy Piatt, Director General of the Russell Group, said:
"In order to undertake their activities in research and education, all Russell Group universities work to a greater or lesser extent with individuals and organisations in most countries of the world.
"In order to do this successfully it is vital they are recognised as academic institutions who are acting independently.
"We are fully supportive of investigative journalism in the public interest, wherever that happens in the world, and we recognise this sometimes involves undercover work. We cannot however, condone, the use of the name of one of our universities, or the use of its students as cover for such activities."
