International students
07 April 2017
Commenting on the NUS report on international students Jessica Cole, Russell Group Head of Policy, said:
“EU and other international students make an enormous contribution to life at Russell Group universities. Our members are home to 61,000 students from other EU countries alone. These women and men have played a key role in making UK universities world-leaders in teaching and research.
“Studying at university is about learning new things and challenging the way that you think. This report shows clearly that UK students value having the opportunity to study with people from different countries and different backgrounds. Meeting people from across the world opens new horizons and helps students look at issues differently. More than this, the economic contribution of international students is vital to ensuring universities can offer home students a full range of courses.
“Ensuring that universities can continue to recruit talented international students will be fundamental to maintaining the UK’s position as a world leader in higher education after we leave the European Union.”
