Levelling Up skills and investment for Scotland

Scotland is home to the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh. Between 2014 and 2020, more than 9,900 new jobs were created by spinouts linked to Russell Group universities in Scotland. Those 2,286 active companies had a combined turnover of £1.55bn and brought £619m of investment to the country.
In addition to the high value jobs created by their business spin-out activities, Russell Group universities in Scotland currently employ over 23,600 staff, an increase of 44% over the last 5 years.

University of Edinburgh – driving advances in data science
The Bayes Centre for Data Science at the University of Edinburgh puts academics, researchers and students alongside public and private partners to use data technology to create solutions to real-world economic and social challenges. The centre works with partners ranging from multinational companies to SMEs in its first two years attracted £91m in external investment.
University of Glasgow – developing cutting edge precision medicine to save lives and create jobs
A new 'Living Laboratory' is to be established by the University of Glasgow. Backed by public and private partners, the lab is being set up to improve health inequalities in Govan and save the NHS money.
