New international strategy
16 March 2019
Commenting on the Government's new international strategy, Dr Hollie Chandler, Senior Policy Analyst at the Russell Group, said: “The Government’s new strategy for international education sends a clear message: the UK is committed to strengthening its global partnerships and wants to encourage more students from around the world to study in the UK.
“We welcome the ambition to grow education exports and it’s vital that this is underpinned by a commitment to improve visa policy and ensure a welcoming environment. This includes providing clarity as soon as possible for EU students coming to the UK after Brexit about their fee status and ensuring the EU settlement scheme applies to EU citizens arriving before the end of 2020, even in the event of no deal, as originally promised.
“We hope to see departments across Whitehall consult with the sector over the coming months to develop internationally competitive policies in these areas.”
