OfS - House of Lords Committee Report

Commenting on the publication of "Must do better", a new report from the House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee on the work of the Office for Students, Russell Group policy manager Jamie Roberts said:

"Effective and targeted regulation is important to ensure students get the high-quality education they deserve. We welcome this report and the recommendations made by the House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee, which we believe will help  improve the way the Regulator in England works to ensure quality and reduce red-tape so that university resources can be focused on teaching and learning.

"The Committee is right to highlight the scale of the financial pressures facing universities and the need for Government to review higher education funding. A more sustainable approach to funding higher education is needed – one that offsets the impact of inflation and is fair and affordable for students and taxpayers. Government and the OfS will both have an important role to play in getting this right and securing the skills pipeline that is crucial to our economy and public services."
