Statement from Acting Director of the Russell Group Dr Tim Bradshaw following the death of Professor Patrick Johnston, Vice Chancellor of Queen's University Belfast:

"Paddy, to those who knew him, will be deeply missed. He had an outstanding career in cancer research before taking up the post of Vice Chancellor in 2014. 

"Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this terrible time."
