Russell Group statement on university assessments
02 April 2020
Following disruption to the summer assessment period as a result of the coronavirus crisis, Russell Group universities are working hard to develop alternative arrangements and minimise stress and disruption to students.
All of our members are making decisions on exams with the student interest firmly in mind and are committed to ensuring fair assessment during this difficult period.
Commenting, Dr Tim Bradshaw, Chief Executive of the Russell Group, said:
“In these difficult circumstances all of our members are focused on ensuring students are not disadvantaged in their outcomes by changes to exams and assessments.
“Institutions are working closely with their student communities including disabled and international students to ensure teaching and assessments meet their specific needs. They are looking at a variety of different options including flexibility in exam formats, providing additional support and equipment for those most in need, and using mitigating circumstances where appropriate.”
