Talks expected to begin over terms of UK association to Horizon Europe

30 March 2023

In response to reports that talks are expected to begin over the terms of UK association to Horizon Europe, Dr Tim Bradshaw, Chief Executive of the Russell Group, said:

"Even after a delayed start, full UK association to Horizon remains the best outcome for UK R&D. However the cost must be fair and reflect the current circumstances. Now is the time to build on the excellent progress made between James Cleverly and Maroš Šefčovič last week which means that an agreement is now within touching distance.

"There will always be issues to navigate but the value of UK association to Horizon goes far beyond financial returns for all parties so we would urge everyone involved to find an agreement as quickly as possible."
