UCEA workforce survey

Commenting on the publication of the latest UCEA higher education workforce survey,  Russell Group head of policy Sarah Stevens said:

“Russell Group universities will continue to recruit the best staff from around the world but Brexit is causing a significant degree of anxiety for EU academics and other workers.

“Since the referendum our members have provided EU staff and students with support at what has been a difficult time. Many have arranged access to independent legal advice for staff and have provided financial support for EU nationals who wished to go through the permanent residency process.

“European academics make up a significant proportion of staff in strategically important disciplines like maths and IT at Russell Group universities. We value the contribution they make and want them to stay after the UK leaves the EU. We need an immigration system that helps universities recruit and retain fantastic lecturers and researchers.”
