UCU and Israeli boycott

Commenting on the UCU announcement on the proposed academic boycott of Israel, Professor Malcolm Grant, chair of The Russell Group, said:

"The Russell Group universities are relieved to learn of the UCU announcement that an academic boycott of Israel would be unlawful and could not be implemented. We have from the outset been strongly opposed to any such proposal, on the grounds that it attempted to stifle academic freedom. We are pleased that the UCU's announcement now brings this unhappy episode to an end."
