Quality assessment in higher education
07 October 2014
Commenting on the launch of a consultation into quality assurance for UK higher education, Dr Wendy Piatt, Director General of the Russell Group of Universities, said:
“We hope this consultation and tendering process presents an opportunity to review the current quality assurance regimes and embed a more risk-based, proportional approach, and we look forward to contributing to this consultation.
“Universities with a strong track record of success which have been delivering high quality education for a long time should be subject to considerably less inspection and bureaucracy than newer institutions.
“Our universities will not flourish if they are over-regulated. Resources should be focused where problems of quality are most likely to occur.”
